Inclusive Stay at Tee Side Chalet
We want everyone to feel welcome at Tee Side Chalet, including persons with autism, persons with intellectual disabilities, and their families and caregivers.
Inclusion is an ongoing journey for us. This page shares what we have done so far, how we can support you, and what we are still working on.
Our Commitment to Inclusion
We are learning and making practical changes to help guests and caregivers feel more comfortable during their stay.
● OUR TEAM
Autism awareness training with St. Andrew’s Autism Centre.
● OUR SPACE
Safer and simpler spaces, improved step by step.
● YOUR PREPARATION
Site viewings and visual resources to help you plan.
● YOUR NEEDS
Tell us how we can help, and we will do our best.
Our Team Is Trained
Our team has undergone autism awareness training conducted onsite by St. Andrew’s Autism Centre (SAAC), with a workshop specially tailored to Tee Side Chalet’s environment and operations. The training provided valuable insights into autism, including different communication styles, sensory sensitivities and practical ways to better understand and support guests and their caregivers with patience, empathy and respect.
At Tee Side Chalet, inclusion is more than an initiative — it is a long-term commitment. We believe everyone deserves to feel welcomed, respected and valued.
What We’ve Done in Our Space
Lockable Balcony Doors
We have installed locks on balcony doors that caregivers can operate from inside, so access can be secured when needed.
Self Check-In
Families can arrive and settle in at their own pace, without queues or crowds at a reception counter.
Safer Furnishings
We are gradually replacing some furnishings with simpler, more minimalist designs to reduce potential hazards.
How We Can Help You Prepare and Settle In
A new place can feel unfamiliar. Here are some ways we may be able to support your stay.
Site Viewing Before Your Stay
Caregivers are welcome to visit beforehand to see the space and prepare their loved ones. Contact us to arrange a time, subject to availability.
Rearranging Furniture
If furniture looks unsafe or unsuitable, tell us and we will move it where possible.
Picture-Based Labels
On request, we can put up picture-based signs for toilets, bathrooms or hot items such as kettles, and consider other labels you may need.
Sensory Tools to Borrow
We keep a small selection of sensory tools that families can borrow during their stay, subject to availability. Please message us via WhatsApp and return borrowed items at check-out.
Other Requests
Every guest is different. Tell us what would make your stay more comfortable and we will do our best to accommodate.
